HOW DOES COUNSELING WORK AND HOW CAN IT BENEFIT ME?
Counseling works differently for different individuals depending on the goals established in the beginning. Some people seek short-term work while others are looking for a safe place in an otherwise unpredictable life. While the process of counseling isn't always comfortable, it's important that you feel comfortable with your therapist and that you feel safe exploring issues that you otherwise keep guarded. Throughout the process, you'll gain new insights into who you are as an individual, how you relate to others, and how your behaviors affect your overall emotional health. This will translate into increased feelings of happiness, fulfillment, empowerment, and overall improvement in your quality of life.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN MY FIRST SESSIONS?
Your therapist will be spending the first few sessions getting to know you and gathering information about your background. As a therapist, our goal is to understand your situation and the best approach to help you move forward with the goals you have for yourself. You won't be asked to share any information you're not ready to share.
I'M CONCERNED ABOUT PRIVACY, HOW CAN YOU ENSURE CONFIDENTIALITY?
We follow the ACA code of ethics to ensure your confidentiality. This means that the information you share in session is confidential. There are rare exceptions to confidentiality, such as when a client indicates a risk to their personal safety or an intent to cause harm to another.
DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?
Our counselors accept a number of insurance plans. You will need to verify if your counselor accepts your plan prior to the first appointment.
